Every company, including dormant and non trading companies, must file a confirmation statement. It confirms the information Companies House hold about your company is up to date.
You must file a statement at least once a year, but you may choose to file more often.
How to file your Confirmation Statement
Once you've signed into Ember, navigate over to the My Tasks tab and select Companies House Updates from the top right corner drop-down list.
From here you should see a reminder that your confirmation statement is due.
If you click into this reminder tile it will take you to Companies House WebFiling where you need to sign in to your account.

Register for online filing
If you haven't done so already, you're going to need to register online filing with companies house. You can find a link for registration here.
If you have already registered, then sign into your webfiling account.
Updating company details
Before filing your confirmation statement, you should check your company details are correct (such as registered office address, director & shareholders).
If any of the information is incorrect or out of date, then this will need updating before you are able to file.
There are some changes you are required to make before confirming your records are up to date, such as changes to:
directors and secretary
people with significant control (PSC)
company’s registered office address
All of the above can be done within the Companies House WebFiling account, but these forms must be filed before you are able to file your confirmation statement.
There are some changes you can make when you file your confirmation statement such as:
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code
statement of capital
trading status of shares
exemption from keeping a PSC register
shareholder information
Filing your statement if nothing has changed
Even if nothing has changed you must still file a confirmation statement.
Within your account click the file confirmation statement button.
This will take you to the next screen when you need to click start.
Note: If you do need to make any changes to the company directors, secretary, people with significant control (PSCs) or registered office, these must be done before filing. See updating company details above. Changes to a Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code, statement of capital, trading status of shares. exemption from keeping a PSC register and shareholder information can be done at the time of filing.
From the next screen you will be asked to confirm the confirmation statement date, and that the shares were not traded on an exchange (such as the London Stock Exchange). Click next to proceed.
If nothing has changed, then at this point you can confirm all sections and tick the declaration at the bottom of the page to submit.
You will then be asked to make a payment for the submission.
Filing your statement with updates
Within your account click the file confirmation statement button.

Next up, you will have to make any necessary changes to information presented. Click view to drill down into the individual items that need to be checked, and make an necessary changes here.
Once you are done, at this point you can confirm the declaration at the bottom of the page and then click submit.
You will then be asked to make a payment for the submission.

Companies House charge £34 for the online submission of the Confirmation Statement.
