In this article we will go through the Settings tab within Ember.

Here we store important information about your company, which we need to help everything run smoothly.

Within the Settings tab, there are several important sections.

Business

In this tab you will find several things to update.

Companies House Auth Code - The authentication code is a 6 digit alphanumeric code issued to each company. The code is used to authorise information filed online. You will have received this code when setting up your company. If you have not received the code, or lost it, then you can request a new online via the Companies House website here.

Company UTR - This is a 10 digit code unique to your company. HMRC would've issued this following your incorporation. If you have not received the code, or lost it, then you can request it be sent to you again here

Principal Activities - Here we need your to enter what your company does. This would show on your annual accounts when you file these.

Industry - Here we would need you to select the most appropriate industry for your company.

Trading date - Please include here the date that your company started trading. This may not be the same at the date your company incorporated.

Corporation tax registration status - Please add here the registration status of your company for corporation tax. If you are not registered and have started trading, please do so here.

Invoicing

Last invoice number used - Here, if you are a company that has previously traded, enter the last invoice number that you used. If you have not yet traded, then you do not need to enter any information here.

Payment information - Here you will find all of your bank accounts that are linked with Ember. You are able to select here the default account which payment for your invoices should be paid into. This will then be the details shown on your invoices.

If you are VAT registered, please enter here the information that is required, including your VAT number, and which VAT scheme you are a member of.

If you are not VAT registered, then you are able to ignore this tab.

If you would like to be VAT registered, please reach out to a member of the support team.

Payroll

If you using Ember to run your payroll, please review the separate Payroll Onboarding article for more information on what information to provide here.

If you are are not registered for payroll, the article will also show you how to start this process.
